There are so many delicious culinary delights in and around Sunset Beach. When deciding where to go, access Tripadvisor and Yelp for good reviews. We will provide short descriptions of the places we have been and update when we try new things!
Mainland Sunset:
- Fibber McGees Irish Pub-located near Food Lion. Food is great pub fare. Great sandwiches and entrees that give you that fix of Irish food. Drinks are tasty and large. Great outdoor dining area with a yard for kids (and fun loving adults) to play cornhole while you wait. At night, it turns into more of a bar atmosphere. Service is always friendly.
- Backstreet Cafe – Great sandwiches!
Ocean Isle:
- Jinks Creek. This is place is amazing and has the best view of sunset over the sound.
Calabash Area:
- Boundary House-on River Road behind Callahans. Feels very much like a chain restaurant (thankfully it is not). The building is beautifully decorated and there is always a wait. But it’s worth it. Entrees are not only interesting but taste amazing. This is more of a dinner-night out restaurant. It can be pricy but a great “end of our beach week” destination.
- Bagel Dock-Located on Beach Dr. Do yourself a favor. Get up early and go get bagels for your family at Bagel Dock. They have great breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as bagels by the dozen.
- Calabash Creamery-On Beach Dr. with the cows out front! No trip to “the beach” is complete without a 9pm run to Calabash Creamery. Homemade ice cream that you will crave long after you leave. In the summer, this place is packed until late night closing with people sitting in rocking chairs on the front porch or kids taking pictures with the cows in the front yard.
- The freshest seafood can be bought right off the fishing boats in Calabash. Turn onto River Road beside Callahans and drive all the way to the end. There are a few restaurants to choose from but buying your own is the best! Grab two or three pounds of fresh shrimp and take it back to Merlot Tide. Here is the timeless recipe for peel and eat shrimp. It’s so easy and so tasty!
Little River:
- Cozy O’s – Good Italian food and great service
North Myrtle:
- Martinis Continental Piano Bar-On Highway 17 in a strip mall. Great for an adult night out. Very dark inside the restaurant. Great steaks and prime rib. Extensive bar with awesome wine list. It is pricey. But the music was great. Requested songs and could sit near the piano.
Myrtle Beach:
- The Melting Pot. We have enjoyed a few celebratory dinners at the Melting Pot. Located in a strip mall on North Kings Highway. This is a chain restaurant. It is expensive. But it’s a fun fondue experience. Always get the dessert. If nothing else, ALWAYS get the dessert. But the entrees are great and you will be filled to the brim. Tasty cocktails!
- Margaritaville located inside Broadway at the Beach. This restaurant has a lot going on. Music is, of course, Buffett, and it’s loud. Everywhere you look, there is something different. In the center of the restaurant is working hurricane that begins churning and “rains” into a two-story blender that makes a frozen concoction. Kids love this place because there is always a balloon artist on stilts walking around and there are things to keep their attention. They don’t take reservations and in the summer, the wait can be over two hours. Go early, put your name on the list and then shop at Broadway.
- A fun night out is dinner and a show! It can be pricey but kids love it and it really is an evening to experience at least once! We recommend both of these:
